Jan Rot (born Dec. 25th, 1957 in Makassar, Indonesia) is a Dutch artist who started his musical career in 1978. At first he wrote English pop songs, but in 1990 he released his first recording in the Dutch language: Hoop en Liefde. This turned out to be a good choice, as he was pretty successful with this material.

In 2000 he made another career change. Since then his main focus isn't on writing new music, but for translating lyrics.
